How many of you
Stay out of desperation
Merely because you’re just
Afraid of separation
Living with someone
Who’s a split personality
Good to you one minute
Then full of hostility
Bringing up the past
That they had forgiven
Honestly it’s no way
For you to be living
All of a sudden
His psyche just snaps
And just like before
He goes into relapse
How many times do you forgive
Before he takes your life
Over some little thing
Which he decides to deny
Throws you in the street
Bloody and bruised
Then brings you back again
Just to used and abused
All the love he swears
Making promises he can’t keep
Leaving you afraid
To close your eyes to sleep
There’s going to come a time
He’ll lose all control
Even though you love him
With all your heart and soul
Each time he goes out
Leaving you home alone
Walking on egg shells
When he finally comes home
Every car you hear pull up
Startles you and you jump
Pretending to sleep
So you won’t get another lump
It doesn’t matter if you’re asleep
He’ll sneak up anyway and
Start to beat on you
Believe me, just cause he can
Mine did it just that way
That’s how I lost my first baby
He came home to me sleeping
Punched me in the back and! Started bleeding
Again he promised many things
Of course it didn’t mean anything
But I typically accepted his apology
Knowing he’d do it again someday
THEN, one day I admitted the truth
He had done it because I let him
Finally even though I loved him
I turned around and I left him
Trust me you can do it too
Cause he doesn’t really love you
Find a man who loves just you
I promise you’ll be happy too
